人文学院成立于2008年8月，前身为北京邮电大学语言学院和文法经济学院，现下设两个系、五个中心、七个教研室，分别是外语系、法律系，语言实验教学中心、国际汉语培训中心、互联网治理与法律研究中心、日本文化研究中心、高校网络舆情研究中心以及专业英语、大学英语[1、2、3]、研究生英语、日俄法、法律等七个教研室。学院师资力量雄厚，现有教职员工125人，其中教授、副教授60余名，80%以上的教师具有硕士以上学位。

学院现有英语、日语、法学三个本科专业；外国语言文学、法学两个一级学科硕士点以及翻译专业硕士招收硕士研究生。

学院承担了全校本科、硕士和博士的公共英语、日语、法语等课程。学校的大学英语四、六级考试，专业英语四、八级考试，大学日语四级考试历年来成绩优异。大学英语四级考试通过率历年在北京市乃至全国高校中名列前茅。我校学生在北京市及全国各类英语、日语、法学竞赛中也取得了骄人的成绩。在近四年全国大学生英语竞赛中，我校参赛学生共12人获特等奖，52人获一等奖，获奖总人数居北京高校前列。2012年，法学专业学生在北京市大学生模拟法庭竞赛中荣获一等奖。

学院成立以来，在科研方面也取得了丰硕的成果，先后受中宣部、国家互联网信息办公室、教育部、工业和信息化部、文化部等部委的委托，在网络治理、网络法律、网络文化、语言实验教学等方面开展了系统深入的研究。2008年以来，共承担190余项科研项目，其中国家社科基金项目7项，省部级项目42项。

作为教育部指定的首批全国大学英语教学改革试点单位，学院承担的大学英语教学改革走在了全国高校的前列。继2006年我校成为教育部大学英语教学改革首批31所示范院校之一后，2007年《大学英语》被评为国家级精品课程。2008年大学英语教学团队荣获“北京市优秀教学团队”称号。多名教师荣获市级奖励。目前，学院基于网络多媒体技术的大学英语教学改革项目已全面实施。学院实验中心技术力量雄厚，拥有国内一流的语言教学及网络教学设备，多媒体立体化的语言教学模式已经形成，为学生学习外语提供了优质的资源和优越的环境。2009年语言实验教学中心荣获“北京市高等学校实验教学示范中心”称号，实现了实验教学上的重大突破。2010年学院成功申报了交叉学科“网络治理”为北京市重点学科，同年成功申报了“网络系统与网络文化”北京市重点实验室。2011年学院成功申报法学、外国语言文学、新闻传播学3个一级学科硕士学位授权点。2012年语言实验教学中心被评为“国家级实验教学示范中心”，是全国首个国家级语言实验教学示范中心，填补了我校建校57年以来文科实验教学的空白。

人文学院有良好的学术风气和文化氛围，学风严谨，注重对学生综合素质的培养和实际工作能力的锻炼。多年来，学院培养的毕业生在通信及信息服务各行业中均有突出表现，许多学生成为政府部门、法律部门、学术界和企业界的精英。

School of Humanities (SH) of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT) was established in August, 2008, the precursors of which are School of Languages and School of Law and Economics. At present, School of Humanities consists of two departments, five centers and seven teaching and research offices. They are, Department of Foreign Languages, Department of Law, Language experiment and teaching center, International Center for Chinese Language, Institute of Internet Governance Law, Research Institute for Japanese studies, and Network Public Sentiment Research Center, Teaching and Research Offices of English Major, College English, Postgraduate English, Japanese French Russian, Law, etc.School of Humanities has 125 faculty and staff, among whom about 60 are full professors and associate professors, 80% of whom hold master or higher degrees

School of Humanities is authorized to offer three undergraduate programs: English, Japanese, and Law; and 2 top disciplines: Law and Foreign Language and Literature;  and also Master Degree of Translation and Interpreting.

School of Humanities has undertaken Public English, Japanese and French courses in BUPT for undergraduates, graduates and doctors. Honors and achievements are made in examinations like CET4, CET6，TEM4，TEM8 and CJT4.Every year, average passing rates of CET4 are among the best in rankings of Beijing and even of the whole country. Students of BUPT have also made remarkable achievements in various English and Japanese Contest. In the past four years, a total number of 12 among all the students participating all kinds of English Competitions were given the Grand Prize, and 52 won the First Prize. The total number is in the front rank among colleges and universities in Beijing. Besides, in the year of 2012, Law students won the First Prize in the competition of Beijing Mock Trial for College Students.

Since the foundation of School of Humanities, it has also achieved fruitful results in scientific researches. Commissioned by Ministry of the Central Propaganda Department , the National Internet Information Office , Ministry of Education, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ministry of Culture, School of Humanities carries out the systematic and deep researches on network governance, network law, network culture , language experimental teaching. Since the year of 2008, it undertakes more than 190 research projects, among which 7 belong to the National Social Science Fund projects, and 42 belong to provincial and ministerial projects.

As first selected units of national college English teaching reform designated by the Ministry of Education, School of Humanities has taken responsibility of college English teaching reform, and led all colleges and universities in China. Having been selected by the Ministry of Education as one of the first 31 demonstration universities of college English teaching reform, in the year of 2007, College English was named National Excellent Courses. In 2008, college English teaching team of BUPT won the title of "Beijing Excellent Teaching Team” and many teachers were awarded the municipal award. By now, projects on college English teaching reform based on Web multimedia technology have been fully implemented. Equipped with domestic first-class language teaching and online teaching facilities, School of Humanities has rich resources of technical force in experimental centers; three-dimensional multi-media language teaching model has been formed, providing resources of good quality and favorable environment for students to learn foreign languages. In the year of 2009, Language experiment and teaching center were awarded the title of “Experimental Teaching Demonstration Centers of Beijing Colleges and Universities” which indicates a breakthrough in the field of experimental teaching. In 2010, School of Humanities has successfully declared the inter-discipline—Network Governance, for Beijing key disciplines. In the same year, Network Systems and Network Culture Center was also successfully declared for Municipal Key Laboratory. Besides, the year of 2011 witnessed the success of declaration for Law, Foreign Languages and Literatures and Communications. In 2012, Language experiment and teaching center was selected “National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center”, which was the first national language experimental teaching demonstration center all over the country, and also filled in the blank of Liberal Arts  experimental teaching since the foundation of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications.
