简介外国语学院始建于1974年，是聊城大学历史最悠久的六大系科之一，已构成硕士研究生、本科生、中外合作等多层次、多元化办学体系。学院设有英语系、日语系、韩语系、汉语国际教育系四个系，六个本科专业，以及英语语言文学、外国语言学及应用语言学、英语课程教学论、英语学科教学、翻译硕士等五个硕士培养点。现有全日制本科学生1400余人，全日制研究生130余人，在职硕士研究生150余人。

学院现有教职工80人，其中教授10人，副教授19人，博士23人，博士后2人。3人获得国家级优秀教师称号，1人具有省级优秀教师称号，聘任了以胡壮麟为代表的国内知名兼职教授15人。建有外国语言文化研究所、中小学基础外语教育教学研究中心两个研究机构。近年来，全院教学及科研人员共出版专著9部，译著10余部，优秀教材1部，发表高层次科研论文300余篇，承担国家级人文社科基金项目1项，省部级人文社科基金项目26项，省教育厅科研课题5项，获省级优秀科研成果奖7项，省级优秀教学成果奖2项。

学院获得了教育部、财政部组织资助的“国培计划——小学英语师资培训资质”和山东省教育厅、财政厅组织资助的“省培计划——中小学英语师资培训资质”。学院注重对外交流与合作，与美国、英国、加拿大、澳大利亚、新西兰、瑞典、日本、韩国等国的一些大学和学术团体保持着密切的学术往来，先后聘请40余名外国文教专家来院任教，40余名教师到国外著名高校访学，派出留学生50余人。

学院具有浓郁的外语学习氛围，具有特色鲜明的品牌活动，面向师生开展“莎翁杯英语戏剧大赛”、“双语演讲大赛”、“异域风情展板”、“外语原声电影放送”、“外语文化艺术节”等专业实践活动，深受广大师生喜爱。

Established in 1974, School of Foreign Languages is one of the oldest schools of Liaocheng University. It has a multi-leveled and multi-oriented education system, including postgraduate programs, undergraduate programs, and cooperative education programs with foreign countries. The School of Foreign Languages consists of English Department, Japanese Department, Korean Department, Department of Teaching Chinese as the Second Language, which are further divided into six undergraduate majors. It has five postgraduate programs, including English Language and Literature, Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, English Disciplinary Methodology, English Teaching, and MTI. It has now over 1400 full-time undergraduates, over 130 full-time postgraduates, and over 150 part-time postgraduates.

The School now has a faculty of 80 people, among which are 10 professors, 19 associate professors, 23 doctors in foreign languages, 2 post doctors. 3 teachers won the national honor of excellent teachers, 1 the provincial honor of excellent teachers. And it has 15 part-time professors, represented by Professor Hu Zhuanglin and some other state-famous scholars from all over China. It has two research centers, which are Foreign Language & Culture Study Center, and Primary & Middle School English Teaching Research Center. In these few years, the faculty has published 9 books, 10 translation works, 1 textbook, over 300 articles, and hosts 1 state-sponsored academic project, 26 provincial government-sponsored research projects, 5 provincial higher education projects. And the faculty has got 7 provincial academic awards, 2 provincial teaching project awards.

We are granted by the Ministry of Education and Shandong Department of Education to organize 1 state-sponsored primary school English teachers’ training program, and 1 provincial government-sponsored primary and middle school teachers’ training program. We attach great importance to the academic cooperation with schools in U.S.A., U. K., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Japan and Korea. And we have employed more than 40 foreign teachers, over 40 teachers have visited some famous foreign schools, and we have sent more than 50 students to famous universities abroad for further studies.

The School has been trying to create a favorable English learning atmosphere and it organizes every year various amateur practical activities, like Shakespeare Play Contest, Bilingual Speech Contest, Foreign Culture Bulletin, Foreign Film Appreciation, Foreign Languages and Arts Festival, which are all very popular among teachers and students.
